In the BIAF stand, where selected works by eleven Italian exhibitors present at the last International Biennial of Antiques in Florence will be exhibited, the Gallery will present an important terracotta by Giovanni Baratta depicting Apollo and Marsyas.
It is probably the terracotta model of a sculpture exhibited in 1767 at the Annunzata exhibitions in Florence by the Marquis Alessandro Capponi: the catalog mentions two marble sculptures referring to the Baratta school having as subjects a “Marzia flayed by Apollo” and a “Mercury killing Argus”.
